Apply to university
Submit application via uni-assist or directly. Prepare transcripts and language certificates.

Apply for student visa
Visit German embassy/consulate with admission letter and blocked account proof.
→ 2–3 months before arrival

Open blocked account (Sperrkonto)
Fintiba or Expatrio. Deposit €934 × months of study to prove financial means.
→ Before visa appointment

Arrive in Germany
Book temporary accommodation (Studentenwohnheim or private).
Day 1

Register (Anmeldung)
Visit Bürgeramt within 2 weeks. Bring passport and tenancy agreement.

Get health insurance
Public insurance via TK, AOK, or Barmer. Required for university enrolment.

7
Enrol at university
Immatriculation with admission letter, insurance proof, and Anmeldebescheinigung.
→ Week 1–2
8
Open German bank account
Commerzbank, N26, or DKB. Need IBAN for scholarship payments.
→ Week 2
9
Get Aufenthaltserlaubnis
Apply for student residence permit at Ausländerbehörde with your university enrolment.

Buy Deutschlandticket
€49/month unlimited local/regional transport across Germany.
